Saturday - GREAT!

Not so much because it was my only night out this weekend. Not so much because I managed to get enough balls to venture out the dance floor again. Not so much because I managed to get trashed. It was the great vibe created from combining some rock out music, with rock out people.

Jeremiah, and his band, The Joe Fund, were in town from KC. They played at Loft 150 Friday, but of course my lethargic ass opted to get to bed instead. Saturday afternoon I get the pleasure and privelege to not only meet Jeremiah in person, (for the first time,) but also meet the rest of the crew. (*whispers* Crazy loud people! A lot of yelling and dropping things in the van those guys.) They weirded me out, and hopefully I did my best to weird them out as well. Nice little give and take I think. During the day I tried to "profile" the guys, but I only got through Jeremiah, John, Matt, and Gary so it wouldn't be fair to even mention it since you're missing half the crew, (plus I'm missing the notes I took.) Great dynamics in personality though, that's for sure. When you look at them at chill out mode you can't help but go, "How can they all possibly get along?" but they do. And, ooh, onstage, it's perfect harmony.

Last night was my first time to actually see them perform. Partly because I'm a punk and have bailed on several ICT shows, and partly because when I tried to see a Pittsburg show Jeremiah had given me the wrong date. But last night, oh, last night. No, it's not the mellow Jason-Mraz-melt-me music I usually sway to, but it was full out party pack rock out jive. It's 5pm the next day and I still feel echoes of wanting to get up and dance until I look at Lisa again, and go "If I pass out on the dance floor, don't worry."

They refer to their music as "ROCK WITH HORNS," this is what was yelled at me when I mentioned Ska. But whatever they're playing I think the crowd can't help but participate. It's a lively crew, lots of jumping around, a little freestyling on the mic, and (I confess I thought about this last night) I think the boys on the horns can breathe through their ears. That's impressive enough if you ask me. :D (Anyone who doesn't get that - YOU'RE TOO YOUNG!)

Anyway, I'm fiending for some more of TJF so come with me August 31st to Pittsburg, KS. It's an all ages shananigans, so what's-her-name can take what's-his-face. Hell, take Mom, Dad, and the kids. There's two other acts performing that day, I don't know them, so I can't guarantee shite. But the damned day is marked on my calendar, that's my plan, that's where I'll be.

BTW, Pittsburg crew, bet you can't wait to see my ass again, and whatever else anyone saw last time I was there.
